Rapid deforestation

Author: Daily Times

Sir: Turbat is known as the biggest city of Balochistan. Like other cities of Pakistan, this city too has many ailments but the biggest emerging problem is deforestation that has become on dangerous level.

Turbat’s rural population is increasing rapidly and people don’t have facility of gas connection so they are forced to cut down trees to fulfill their house requirement.

According to criteria, a country should have forest at 25 percent of its total area but Pakistan just covered 4.8 percent. In Turbat, most of people are uneducated and they don’t know this importance of forests. This unawareness is creating deforestation.

Our Prime Minister has launched a project named, “Green and Clean Pakistan”, but this slogan is stall away from Turbat.
