LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is all set to lead his first-ever caravan from Lahore to Faisalabad on Thursday (today).

To press the Nawaz-led government for implementing his four-point demands, the PPP chairman would lead the SUV caravan from Bilawal House at around 10am. PPP’s top leadership will also join him.

The PPP’s four demands include appointment of a full-fledged Foreign Minister, formation of a parliamentary committee on national security, passage of the opposition’s bill seeking investigation into the Panamagate scam and implementation of the resolution passed during a multi-party conference on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor held in May last year. The Nawaz-led government has so far not given any importance to Bilawal’s four demands.

Bilawal’s caravan will use the Motorway from Thokar Niaz Baig to Faizabad Interchange where he will address a workers gathering at Kot Abdul Malik. Using the Sheikhupura-Faisalabad road, he would address people at various locations along the way.

According to the scheduled programme, the rally will try to reach Faisalabad before dusk.

According to the party sources, during his stay in Faisalabad, Bilawal would meet the workers to appoint new office-bearers in Faisalabad.

On Wednesday, the PPP workers held a warm-up rally in the city that started and finished at the Lahore Press Club after taking a round of congested areas like The Mall, Data Darbar, Circular Road and Railway Station.

The rally was organised by Faisal Mir, Abdul Qadir and Dr Khalid Jan. They led the rally on a truck decorated with party flags, slogans and mammoth-size pictures of Bilawal Bhutto. Some workers also joined the rally on motorcycles.

Female workers were carrying party flags and portraits of the chairman. They also danced to party songs.

Addressing the rally, the PPP leaders endorsed Bilawal’s decision to hold caravan rallies in favour of his four demands. They said that they were convinced that the party would be reenergized in Punjab by such activities under Bilawal’s leadership.
