Pakistan According to a statement by Bilawal House, the PPP chairman offered condolences over sad demise of Zahoor Zehbi, the creator of the PPP’s most popular political anthem “Dila Teer Bija”.

Accompanied by Sanam Bhutto and Asifa Bhutto Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto said that late Zahoor Zehbi apart from his other creative works composed the music of PPP’s political anthem “Dila Teer Bija.” Several PPP Karachi leaders and workers including Waqar Mehdi, Rashid Rabbani, Javed Nagori, Ijaz Durrani and others were also present on the occasion.

The song ‘Dila Teer Bija’ (An arrow to your heart) based on a funky, beat-heavy rendition of Baloch folk music was sung by Shabana Noshi and composed by Zahoor Zehbi. The song was recorded in a music studio in Lyari, at the height of what was called the ‘Lyari Disco Scene’ in the 1980s when Lyari emerged as Pakistan Peoples Party stronghold. The song’s lyrics and imagery depicted the passionate disposition of diehard PPP supporters.

The PPP with this party anthem set a trend of political songs, which were followed by other political parties during election campaigns as well as during public rallies and other events.

Meanwhile, PPP Chairman felicitated newly-elected office-bearers of Lahore Press Club on their victory in elections of the Club.

In his felicitation message to Lahore Press Club President Arshad Ansari, Secretary Zahid Abid and others, the PPP Chairman expressed his hope that the new office-bearers of the Lahore Press Club would pay special heed to welfare of the working journalists and resolution of their grievances adding that they would uphold the journalist fraternity’s traditions of untiring struggle for sustaining democracy, respect for the constitution and people’s rights besides protecting freedom of press and expression.

Bilawal said that the unbiased impartial journalism and politics for the people are reciprocal to each other. He said that the PPP is Pakistan’s largest and strongest voice and guardian of freedom of speech and expression and would always stand shoulder to shoulder with the journalist community in the struggle for their rights.
