ATC asks IO to get red warrants issued for Altaf Hussain

Author: Staff Report

KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court has directed the investigation officer to approach the interior ministry to get the red warrants issued for the arrest of Muttahida Qaumi Movement founder Altaf Hussain for delivering anti-state speech. The ATC-II once again issued non-bailable warrants for the arrest of Hussain and other party leaders, including Dr Farooq Sattar, in three identical cases pertaining to hate speech. At the outset, the investigating officer informed the judge that the warrants could not be executed against Hussain as he was living in London. The judge, thus, asked him to approach the interior ministry to get the red warrants issued through Interpol for the arrest of the MQM founder. The court was critical of the IO for not arresting Amir Liaquat, then party leader who came up with lame excuses after Altaf’s hate remarks.
