Haris Sohail also ruled out of Centurion Test

Author: Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan suffered yet another blow on Wednesday when their middle-order batsman Haris Sohail was ruled out from the first Test against South Africa in Centurion. According to reports, the left-handed batsman has been suffering from a knee injury – which kept him out of action for almost two years – and his participation in the game was subjected to a fitness test but now it has been confirmed that he won’t take any part in the Centurion Test. Opener Shan Masood is named as his replacement for first Test. Earlier leg-spinner Shadab Khan and fast-bowler Abbas -who failed to regain their fitness – were also ruled out from the five-day game. According to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s press release, both Shadab and Abbas have made great progress recently and are improving every day. However they are not fit to participate on the opening game of the South Africa tour. They will continue with their current rehabilitation programme as well as their return to play programme, the statement said. If all goes according to plan, the team management is positive that they will be available for selection for the second Test in Cape Town that begins on January. The first Test between Pakistan and South Africa started on Wednesday (yesterday).
