An accomplished entrepreneur, Sadaf Fawad Khan is all for fashion! Her label SFK Bridals is chic and classy, to say the least. In an exclusive interview to Daily Times, Sadaf talked about what is keeping her busy.

Out of all the professions, why did you choose fashion designing?

I always had more of an interest towards arts than sciences. When life gave an opportunity, there was nothing more exciting than diving right into it.

What is so unique about your label?

I identify my label with sobriety and delicacy. This is my visualisation of a woman who opts to be dressed by the brand. I pay a lot of attention to the intricacy of the design itself and it comes through as prominent on a base color. Color is and remains an important part of the brand’s philosophy. I do not want the work to be lost in a base color just so that it may visually look heavy to a novice audience. The same philosophy extends to the menswear collection, which we have been growing steadily. The design is simple yet prominent and lets your personality add to it.

Where do you see yourself headed with SFK Bridals?

Just looking upwards and onwards, InshaAllah.

Do your designs tell a story?

My designs don’t have a particular narrative. I usually take inspiration from floral motifs as they define peace and love to me.

What does your new collection consist of?

Each collection is essentially an extension of the previous one with more refinement. We have a wide range of offerings. There is the conventional lehngachooli as well as a new spin on the peshwas. There is a dramatic volume paired with modern and heavily embellished Chantilly pants. There are layered asymmetric lehngas that have a brilliant pop of color. We will keep innovating to give our consumers and audience something new.

Was it difficult to establish your own identity in the industry post marriage?

I was married 13 years ago and that introduction of mine as an artist’s wife has been there ever since. However, that is not my introduction when it comes to my professional life. I intend it to be completely merit based.

Do you enjoy your celebrity status? What sets apart a public figure from a layman?

I do and I don’t. There is nothing wrong with it but it has its own disadvantages. There is no advantage of it to me with regard to my brand and work. It is the same grind as for any other new entrant in the industry.

Share some interesting facts about your husband Fawad Khan.

There is nothing the audience needs to know that he hasn’tbeen asked already. All else shall remain private.

What have you always wanted in life?

I have whatever I have ever wanted in life.

What do you want to be remembered as?

A kind person.

What are your personal favorite fashion labels? What type of style do you enjoy the most?

I enjoy simplicity in design. Muse is a favorite amongst my go to brands for fun stuff.
