KARACHI: The Police has arrested an assistant sub-inspector on Wednesday allegedly involved in house robbery in the area of Ferozabad.

ASI Owais Tipu was posted in Darakhshan police station and was arrested by the investigation police East.

According to the police sources the suspect is son of former police inspector Ishtiq and was appointed in Sindh police as probationary assistant Sub-Inspector in 2014.

As per the details provided by the police, Abdullah, a resident of PECHS block two central commercial area had lodged an FIR on 6th June last month that on 30th May some unknown persons knocked the main door of their house at night and after some time they almost broke the door and shouted from outside that they belonged to police and rangers.

FIR further reads as follows “when they introduced themselves as members of LAEs the family opened the door for them, at the time around ten to twelve persons armed with pistols and Kalashnikovs entered in to house and scattered towards the rooms for a search”

FIR concluded as “during the search they took 3 million cash, 1300 UK Pounds, jewelry including bangles, wrings and gold sets and walked away from the house”

At last after one month of the alleged robbery the police managed to arrest ASI Owais Tipu for further interrogation.

According to the police sources the victim was Afghan origin and some clues surfaced that some elements of LEAs had the information that Abdullah was staying in Pakistan illegally and he would not make much roar in case of being deprived of his valuables.

Police sources have confirmed that another 16 grade official of a LEA has been detained for interrogation to find out about other involved persons since this issue has become the matter of reputation of LEAs because the suspects committed the act by using the name of LEAs which could create a bad impression .

SHO Rao Rafiq, on the other hand said that the police had no such custody in Firozabad police station but he did not deny any arrest.
