Former minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Asif has dismissed reports that he has fled the country, saying he is visiting his daughters in the US and will return soon.

Talking to a private TV channel, Kh Asif revealed that the purpose of his trip to the US was to meet his daughters and not to escape the country. “I am in the US at the moment visiting my daughters and will come back soon,” he said.

The former minister has joined his family who had proceeded to the US earlier. He had stayed in Pakistan on the request of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. Soon after his departure, reports suggested that the reason behind his departure was to escape a possible arrest by the NAB.
