Pakistani makeup artist Samina Akram wins international award

KARACHI: Samina Akram, a Pakistani makeup artist, won an international advanced makeup artistry competition in Santiago, Chili. The event was organized by world renowned makeup brands. Entries from 43 countries were received for the main event in three different categories of advanced makeup artistry whereas the judges declared Samina Akram as a solo winner in all the categories.

This is for the first time that a Pakistani makeup artist has not only participated on such a noble platform but also achieved an international recognition for her extraordinary skills.

It is pertinent to mention here that Ms. Akram is one of the few makeup artists in Pakistan who got their credentials from the world’s prestigious make up academies including London School of Makeup and Makeup Forever Academy, Paris. Besides attaining a Masters in Marketing, she has graduated in advanced make up artistry in London and Paris. While talking to a journalist Ms. Samina said that she is optimistic about the future of Pakistan and planned to open an international make up academy in Pakistan with affiliation with the world’s top make up brands as well as Institutes so she can utilize her expertise and exposure to train the youth in this field.

She further said that make up artistry is considered as one of the noblest professions in the world, several western countries also offer immigration to the certified makeup artists as well. An official from the government has also assured their cooperation in this field, she further added.
