HYDERABAD: School Libraries Association (SLA) and Goethe-Institute Pakistan will organize “School Libraries Convention 2018” to provide an opportunity to school librarians about the emerging trends and ideas in the realm of school libraries.
The School Libraries Association will hold the convention on December 22, 2018 at the Generation’s School, South Campus.
SLA would especially focus on the recent developments in school libraries, their best practices along with their applications to meet the level of international standards of School Libraries.
Mr Irfan Qureshi, District Governor, Rotary Pakistan Literacy Mission shall be the chief guest at the convention.
Over 200 library professionals and school heads will be attending the event. The knowledge sharing day will comprise of online sessions by international speakers from UK, USA and Qatar, including hands-on workshops from national facilitators.
A panel discussion on “Creating hope and possibilities of learning for public school children through libraries” is also scheduled with panelists from The Citizens Foundation(TCF), USAID Pakistan Reading Project, Sindh Education Foundation, Public Private Partnership Project, School Education and Literacy Department, Zindagi Trust and Rotary Pakistan Literacy Mission.
The event will be concluded with a video message by International Association of School Librarianship (IASL)’s president “Katy Manck”. Furthermore, an MOU signing ceremony will also be held between SLA and Rotary Pakistan Literacy Mission. School libraries Association is a group of excited, dedicated and passionate school and university librarians, committed to initiate avenues and opportunities for improvement of school libraries in Pakistan.
