Justice Shahid Karim of Lahore High Court on Wednesday directed an Additional Advocate General (AAG) Punjab to seek list of all political appointments in 56 public sector companies.
The judge directed the AAG to also submit until January 24, 2019 the list of closure of these companies decided by Punjab government.
Advocate Sheraz Zaka on behalf of the petitioner said that these 56 public sector companies were jeopardising the functioning of local government. He said that political appointments were being made in public sector companies which was in violation of public sector companies rules 2013.
He submitted that these public sector companies were functioning in violation of article 140 of the Constitution and impinges upon the efficient functioning of local government. He said that these 56 companies had made political appointments comprising of provincial assembly members which should be declared in violation of public sector companies rules 2013.
He requested to declare these companies illegal and also direct the government not to make further political appointments.
