COAS hosts reception for ICC Champions Trophy 2017 winners

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Bajwa held a reception on Wednesday for the Pakistan cricket team, the winners of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 in England, and Pakistan Cricket Board officials, said an Inter-Services Public Relations statement yesterday. Bajwa also asked the team to continue to be hard-working and humble as they were the ambassadors of Pakistan. PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan thanked the Army Chief for his support and making a conducive environment for the sport in the country. PCB executive committee chairman Najam Sethi also thanked the Army Chief for the support in holding the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final in Lahore. “The players also thanked the COAS for holding the reception and honouring them. The players also recognised the Army’s contribution in the war against terror,” added the statement of the ISPR. On Tuesday, the Prime Minister hosted the players and honoured them for their performance.
