ISLAMABAD: Former Minister for Interior & Planning, Development & Reform and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Leader Ashan Iqbal does not give the credit to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for British Airways return to Pakistan after a decade.

The former interior minister Ahsan Iqbal throw back the image of when he raised the issue with British Home Secretary in April 2018. In his tweet Iqbal said,

“Very pleased to hear British Airways starting service to Pakistan. I strongly took up this issue with British Home Secretary in my last visit of UK in April, 2018. British HC @TomDrewUK too worked hard to get it revived.”

In his another tweet he said:

“Had a very useful meeting with Ms Amber Rudd UK Home Secretary. We discussed bilateral security issues. Also invited UK to start British Airways service on new Isld airport and send England cricket team with restoration of Int’l cricket in Pakistan.”

Earlier on Tuesday, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Development Zulfi Bukhari held a press conference along with British airways officials.

Bukhari said “British Airways coming back after a decade shows you where we were and how far we ve come,” Bukhari said, terming the announcement “groundbreaking”.

“This is a huge achievement for where Pakistan wants to be. It s a huge step for this government that it has given foreign investors that security to come back.”
