KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) parliamentarian Haleem Adil Sheikh said that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardariwould soon be in jail because of his corruption and misdeeds.

He stated this while addressing participants of a massive protest staged by PTI activists against the acute shortage of water in the metropolis. The protestors held the provincial government responsible for persisting water crisis in the city.

The PTI activists led by FirdousShamim Naqvi, Haleem Adil Sheikh and MPAs elected from Karachi reached the Karachi Press Club (KPC) and held a big protest. The protestors raised slogans of ‘Give water to Karachi’.

Addressing the demonstration Haleem Adil Sheikh said that Asif Zardari should account for the past 11 years. “We are not asking Zardari about the issue of his wife’s death, but he would be surely made accountable for his corruption,” he added.

The PTI lawmaker further declared that Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s government would hold ‘sugar thieves’ accountable. He said that the corruption mafia of Anwar Majeed would be held accountable for every penny of the money they looted. He said that inquiry into corruption of Rs300 billion (bn) had been started.

Haleem Adil said that Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah was also not innocent. He said that the key of the Sindh finance department was with the chief minister. He claimed that the CM was generous in signing subsidies for the Omni Group but his pen went try when it came to providing financial assistance to the people of Thar.

The PTI leader said that minister for Local Government Saeed Ghani would also be held accountable for his corruption. Haleem Adil said that Zardari should see what his ministers were doing. He announced that the next protest would be held outside the CM House.

He said the next mandate in Sindh would be that of the PTI. Lambasting the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), the parliamentarian said that it had been ruling Sindh since the last 4000 days. “Why has the provincial government failed at providing water to Karachi,” he asked.

Sindh Assembly opposition leader FirdousShamim Naqvi said, “We believe in merit and would follow merit.” He then asked why the PPP was afraid of making public accounts committee of Sindh Assembly. Lambasting Zardari, he said that he was ‘the king of corruption’ and added that he would meet the fate of Omni Group. He said that there were forward groups forming in the party.
