Play staged to express solidarity with martyred APS children’s parents

The Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) in collaboration with Nemat Foundation organised a walk on Sunday followed by a stage play written and directed by Naheed Manzoor and a ceremony to pay tremendous tribute to the martyrs of Army Public School (APS), Peshawar.

Member of National Assembly (MNA) and Parliamentary Secretary for Federal Education & Professional Training Wajiha Akram who was chief guest on the occasion while addressing the ceremony said that APS Peshawar incident had united the whole nation adding that every child of Pakistan is now a commander and leader of the country.

She said that on December 16, 1971, Pakistan was divided in two parts and on December 16, 2014 the same treason was tried. She said that it was need of the time to recognise the enemy who is using our own people to sabotage the country.

MNA Wajiha Akram said that it was such kind of incident that melancholies the whole world. A stage play “Khak-e-Nasheman” written and directed by Naheed Manzoor was also presented to show solidarity with the parents of APS martyrs.

Naheed Manzoor said that APS incident was a tragedy. Brigadier (r) Agha Hassan said that sacrifices of the Armed Forces helped the country survive.

Shakil Ahmed Chauhan, Chaudhry Shahbaz, Dr Amir Hanif, Mahi Sheikh, Dr Ahmed and others also spoke on the occasion. A candle vigil was arranged to pay tribute to APS martyrs. The RAC director thanked the distinguished guests at the end of ceremony.
