RWMC MD accused of hiring and promoting staff based on nepotism

Author: Shehzad Yousafzai

Nepotism and favouritism are at their peak in Rawalpindi Waste Management Company where the acting managing director distributed jobs among his nears and dears without following a legal method.

Secretary Rizwan Sherdil, who is also serving as acting MD has violated the due and fair process of promoting relevant officials and accommodating his blue eyed staff members on key posts, said sources.

According to source, on condition of anonymity, Rizwan Sherdil appointed a company driver, who is also senior vice president of trade union, to the post of the superintendent which is a clear legal and procedural violation.

“How can a driver be promoted to the position of the superintendent without any legal process and required qualification?” he questioned.

Similarly, another junior female officer is appointed as account officer while the lady who deserves this seat is working under her junior only because of nepotism in the department.

Sources said trade union chairman Changez Bhatti who was appointed as sanitary supervisor is currently holding charge of two posts that are in-charge transport department and in-charge Nalla Gang.

The management has also confiscated vehicles from the permanent drivers and has appointed drivers on daily wages to run the system, as the permanent drivers were refusing to sign the fake maintenance and repair bills and payments, the source revealed.

The source went on to say that if violation of merit continues alike, the department will suffer from numerous problems due to incompetent staff which is appointed on political and nepotism basis.
