Karachi mayor Waseem Karachi sent a legal notice to Pakistan Tehreen-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Khurram Sherzaman over a statement in which he criticised the mayor’s role in the ongoing anti-encroachment drive in the city.
Earlier, PTI politician Khurram Sherzaman had criticised the mayor for the ongoing anti-encroachment drive. Mayor responded by sending a legal notice to Sherzaman to either explain his statement or offer a public apology for it.
As per the notice, Wassem Akhter said that Khurram statement had severely damaged his credibility and image since his criticism on the operation against encroachment was baseless and unfounded. “Khurram should offer a public apology in 14 days and otherwise he will have to face 500 million defamation suit,” stated the notice. It further said that the PTI politician could also face a criminal case in court.
