Sindh government working on new police law: CM’s adviser

Advisor to Sindh chief minister (CM) on Information Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that Sindh government was working on a new police law and it would be tabled soon in Sindh Assembly.

He said that the decision on up-gradation of various positions in police would also be taken at the earliest. He expressed these views while addressing 41stpassing out parade at Razaqabad Elite Force Training College on Tuesday.

He said that the Sindh government was focusing on the welfare of police personnel. He said that the Sindh government had decided to establish forensic laboratory so that cases could be solved in a scientific way.

Barrister Wahab lauded the police contribution and sacrifices in bringing peace and controlling law and order in the province particularly on going operation against terrorism in Karachi. He assured that the government would use maximum resources for the betterment and improvements in the police department.

He thanked Police inspector general (IG) for inviting him to witness the passing out parade. He added that this passing out parade was proof that all the appointments were made purely on merit. Sindh Police IG Dr Kaleem Imam said that he was grateful that Sindh government had approved increased salaries, emoluments and given him full support.

He also appreciated the provincial advisor Barrister Murtaza Wahab for accepting the invitation for 41st passing out parade as it would bring motivation among the police officers. Commandant Razaqabad College Tanveer Alam Odho also spoke on the occasion. Earlier, Barrister Wahab inspected the passing out parade and distributed medals and shields on the best performance among police cadet.

Talking to newsmen, Barrister Wahab said that Sindh Police was moving forward towards excellence and added that anti-riots force training school had been established. To a question, he replied that owing to NAB inquiry, the safe city project had been abandoned. He added that a safe city pilot project would be initiated in the red zone areas of the city.

To another question, Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that the new police law would be enacted soon and directives had been issued for the improving the conditions of the police station. He said that after Karachi operation, law and order situation had improved manifold.

He said that the decision had been made to reschedule ATA to curb street crimes and anti-terrorism act would be applied in case of use of arms in street crimes. He told the reporters that mobile and motorcycle markets would also be regulated. To another question, he said that they were not focusing on one sector. He added that the Sindh government was working on all educational institutions.
