ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has said that the documents released by foreign media proved that Maryam Nawaz is the owner of Mayfair flats.
Talking to the media outside the Supreme Court on Monday, the PTI chief said the lies of those who plundered national wealth had come to fore despite all tactics to conceal them.
He said that if Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was truthful then he should go to court. He said the premier should not use the state-run news agency for personal purposes. He said the premier accepted on the floor of the House that he had all the proofs and record after the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) released the Panama Papers. He said that instead of submitting evidence the Sharif family was using different tactics to save their skin.
Imran said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was mum over the recent report of the BBC about the purchase of London flats. He said that if the prime minister was right than why he was reluctant to move the court against the ICIJ and the BBC. “These reports have exposed the lies of the Sharif family.”
He said the Sharifs had used the state-run news agency for running a wrong story, which had no base, just to reduce pressure of documents released by foreign organisations.
He said that Nawaz had reiterated in his speeches that he was involved in the family’s businesses, but the premier’s lawyers were now trying to separate him from the family businesses.
