ATC clause added in rape victim’s FIR

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Social Welfare Shamim Mumtaz has said that an ATC clause has been incorporated in the FIR of rape victim adding that culprits will soon be put behind bars.

On Monday, the minister spoke with high officials of the police and sought a progress report in connection with the investigations of the incident. She said that MNA Faryal Talpur and Asifa Bhutto Zardari have taken notice of the incident. She said that a daily progress report in connection with the investigation is to be sent to the Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah.

She said that Sawera has been shifted to a ward on Monday and her condition was stable. She said that the girl was still in trauma and no one was allowed to meet her except her parents. She further informed that DNA samples of the arrested 8 suspects had been conducted while identification parade or showing pictures of the arrested persons tothe girl was not possible due to her delicate mental condition.

She said that Deputy Director Child Welfare Fozia Massom and other staff have been directed to stay at Civil Hospital and provide assistance to the girls family. She also informed that SP rank officers of the police department will be posted at the divisional level to prevent incidents of violence against children, in this regard she added that a letter has been sent to the Inspector General Police, Sindh.
