NAB investigating anti-corruption DD

Author: Zafar Malik

ISLAMABAD: Instead of eradicating corruption , the Deputy Director, anti corruption department has got himself tangled in the net of the National Accountability Bureau(NAB) on the charges of exceeding powers and making illegal assets beyond income.

Reliable sources said that NAB had completed the inquiry against Tariq Rahim Haidri, Deputy Director, who is deputed at Rawalpindi office of the anti corruption department.

NAB after collecting evidences will file a reference against him as soon as it starts to gather information about his moveable and immoveable property. During the course of interrogation, when Haidri was called by NAB for questioning, he could not satisfy the investigation team of NAB.

The sources said that Tariq Rahim Haidri had remained on the posts of Tehsildar and Magistrate in the federal capital Islamabad. Moreover he also worked in Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA).

NAB had received several complaints against Haidri that he not only misused his authority but also made assets and bank accounts worth millions of rupees in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

In this connection NAB has also written a letter to the State Bank of Pakistan seeking the details of Tariq’s bank accounts .

Now the sitting of a dishonest official, who has a lot of illicit wealth in the anti corruption department puts a big question mark on the performance of the functionary as to how it could wipe out corruption from the society.
