AIOU holds seminar for capacity building of teachers

The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) on Sunday held a seminar for capacity-building of its academicians, enabling them to deliver the best to students in their respective disciplines.

According to a statement, the seminar was part of the university’s consistent efforts to improve contents delivery methods while imparting education through distance learning system.

On the advice of Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zia-ul-Qayyum, the Department of English Language and Applied Linguistics engaged its academic staff for their professional development through a daylong seminar.

The seminar titled ‘Teacher Education: The Challenges of Change’ was organised to help participants to understand modern teaching trends and methodologies.

A resource person, Director Teachers’ Development Center  Professor Abbas Husain shared different types of challenges, being faced by teachers in current the age of internet technology.

He urged teachers to abreast themselves with new techniques for development of professional courses, Google programmes, classroom apps and experiment artificial intelligence.

Earlier, Chairman of the Department Prof Dr Muhammad Umar Farooq highlighted the objectives of the event.

The department invites academic experts and master trainers on a monthly basis to update teacher community about rapid changes taking place in teaching techniques and methodologies across the globe.
