A fire that broke out early on Sunday morning in New Karachi’s garment factory was successfully doused by firemen, according to media reports.

A blaze which broke out earlier in New Karachi’s garment factory was put out shortly afterwards. “90 percent of fire has been extinguished and the situation is now under complete control,” the chief fire officer said.”Fire has been doused on the first and second floor of the factory. Further extinguishing process is underway on a portion of the third floor”, added the official.

Dozens of fire brigades were called up from all departments across the city in order to put out the fire. However, the cause of the fire has not been determined yet.

Earlier on November 18, a fire broke out in a towel factory in Gabol Town and spread over the rest of the building. Ten fire fighting vehicles arrived to initiate an operation to put the fire out. Chief Fire Officer Imtiaz Afzal said flames had been doused. He told that his department was informed about the fire at around 3.45am and by the time the blaze had already spread to most areas of the factory.

Two firefighters were injured when debris fell on them during the firefighting operation. They were taken to a nearby hospital and reported out of danger by medical personnel.
