ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Thursday said his party always faced hardships and never took U-turns.
“We kissed the noose but did not take a U-turn in the face of hardships,” he told a ceremony here. Taking a jibe at Prime Minister Imran Khan without naming him, Bilawal said, “We do not take U-turns, rather we chant ‘Marsoon Marsoon Sindh na Desoon (We will die but won’t give Sindh away).” “We faced dictatorships but didn’t bow even before the dictators,” he said. “We stared the terrorists in their eyes, embraced martyrdom but did not take a U-turn,” he added.
The PPP chairman described democracy as the only way for the country to progress. “We can move forward only by walking on the path of democracy,” he maintained.
Bilawal said that culture holds enormous importance in any society. “Sindh is a historic part of Pakistan. Mohenjo-Daro tells us that this region was home to one of the oldest civilizations,” he said, adding that he is proud of having a rich culture and history.
