PM bars ministers from issuing ripostes to criticism

Prime Minister Imran Khan while expressing displeasure over the performance of some his cabinet ministers has barred them from issuing ripostes to opposition criticism of the government and designated Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry for the task only.

Highly credible sources told Daily Times that in one of the internal meeting after the PTI celebrated its 100 days celebrations, Prime Minister Imran Khan while taking strong exception to the opposition’s criticism, said that the response by some of the ministers to the opposition was not up to the mark, “in fact it backfired, and opposition got more strength on the poor statements of the PTI ministers”.

Sources said Prime Minister Imran Khan gave an additional responsibility of oversight role to Federal Minister Pervez Khattak. Under the role, Defence Minister Khattak would keep an eye on the statements of ministers on political matters within and outside parliament. He would also keep the prime minister informed and pass on instructions to ministers in dealing with day-to-day political issues.
