The curse of child abuse

Author: Staff Report

Parents sending their children outside must beware of the menace of child abuse.

Sharing explicit content is becoming increasingly common owing to the increased accessibility of video cameras via mobile phones.

Mohammad Shoaib, Director of Federal Investigative Agency’s (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing, said that the FIA had properly pursued only one case pertaining to child abuse and immoral videos even though 15 cases were registered in 2018.

He said this while talking to a private TV channel. “Parents are reluctant in perusing such cases owing to the societal stigmas associated with this issue”.

He was questioned about reports of seemingly organized sharing of immoral videos in social media platforms to which he responded by saying that “We have teams working on this both in and outside of Pakistan”

Earlier some people of an organized-crime group were arrested in connection with child pornography.

“There are 1600 Pakistani members, including women and children, of the group linked to infamous Hamza Child pornography case” he continued. He also added that most of the members did not know the admin nor had any information about his intentions.

A case occurred whereby a person received thousands of videos of foreign children and the FIA embassy in Spain was informed but no report was registered against this person in Pakistan even though the cybercrime has evidence in this regard.

On the other hand, the Education Minister Sardar Ali shah stated that educational institutions need to create awareness about getting rid of such kind of child abuses.
