Pakistan wants a political solution to Afghan peace and reconciliation: PM Khan

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday said that Pakistan wants a political solution to Afghan peace and reconciliation.

Prime Minister while talking to US Secretary of State’s Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad said that peace and recociliation in Afghanistan is in Pakistan’s abiding interest.

The Prime Minister also welcomed President Trump’s letter and the US assurance to work with Pakistan on this shared objective.

Imran Khan also emphasized on the importance of intensifying regular engagement on priority areas in the bilateral context particularly trade, investment, education, health and social sector development.

Ambassador Khalilzad conveyed the good wishes of President Donald Trump to the Prime Minister.

He said US leadership looks forward to working with Pakistan in furthering the shared goal of peace through a political settlement in Afghanistan.
