ECC approves export of 0.1m tonnes of sugar

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on Tuesday approved export of additional 0.1 million ton of sugar.

The ECC meeting today reviewed a five-point agenda. According to sources, a summary to resolve problems related to sugar industry was presented and meet decided additional 0.1 million tons of sugar export.

This export quota is in addition to quantity of one million tons already approved in ECC meeting on October 3, 2018.

The ECC also agreed to ensure start of crushing season earlier than normal.

Moreover the ECC directed to chalk out the strategy to pay refunds to exporters.

Sources further informed that a summary to enhance export was presented while a summary to remove the deficit of fertilizers also came under consideration.

The meeting also gave approval to supply of gas from Zafir Gas Field while supply of 66 mmcdf gas from Mari Gas Field also came under discussion.
