Gas meters being stolen in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: As many as 23 domestic gas meters have been stolen within different areas of the city in recent days.

According to media reports, the incidents regarding pilferage of gas meters are on the rise day by day. About four gas meters were pilfered from Muhallah Hokum Dad and 19 were stolen from Amar Pura. The meter mafia removes gas meters after disconnecting the gas line.

Consumers also staged a demonstration against stealing of gas heaters on Rawal Road. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) city secretary Zaheer Awan, Gulam Yaseen, Hakeem Ishfaq, Asad Malik and Shahan said that at night meters were present at their proper places but in the morning they had disappeared.

A report on stolen meters has also been lodged with the respective police stations.
