ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways has started theconstruction work for restoration of the Sibi-Khost section at anestimated cost of Rs 3 billion. The project is likely to be completed by nextyear.
Official sources in the Ministry of Railways informed media on Wednesday that the project will be completed with the support of the NationalLogistics Cell (NLC).
Sources said that in this regard, Pakistan Railways had made a payment of Rs 130million through a cheque to NLC as a first installment of the contract.
They said that Sibi, Harnai and Khost section of the PakistanRailways had been destroyed by the extremists besides eight bridgesdue to which the people of the area were deprived of the onlysuitable mode of transportation.
The sources added that transportation at Sibi-Khost section hadbeen suspended for the last ten years which had created uncertainty among the public of the areas.
With the restoration of the section, the operation of passenger and freight trains would not only facilitate the people of the area but would also improve the economic conditions of the people.
Sources said that the section consisted of eight railwaystations in the area and the length of the section was around 133 kilometers.
