CM Murad displeased over slow progress in development projects

KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah showed his displeasure over slow progress of the development projects in the province.

In a meeting at the CM house CM Murad Ali Shah showed profound resentment over the slow pace of construction of district headquarters hospitals in Sanghar and Dadu districts.

Out of a total of Rs 4 billion some Rs 700 million has already been released for the projects.

He blamed some officers particularly the engineers for the slow pace of work.

He ordered Chairman Planning and Development (P&D), Muhammad Waseem to probe into the matter and file a report as soon as possible so that action can be taken against the perpetrators.

During the meeting the CM was given a detailed briefing of all the development schemes underway under the auspicious Karachi Development Project.

The CM also directed the finance minister to ensure a smooth transaction of funds for the ongoing projects.

He particularly pointed out the stadium road project and said that the road should be opened for public use by the end of December.

“Plans for the work on Lee Market Flyover and the marine under pass at marine Chowrangi should be presented to me immediately” the CM ordered.

Meanwhile, the Sindh government has directed health and education departments to complete work on District Headquarter (DHQ) Hospital Dadu, 41 emergency Trauma centers across the province and 15 comprehensive and 16 English medium schools respectively within the stipulated time period

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Monday, while presiding over a meeting to review progress of 73 development schemes issued strict orders to officials.

Chairman P&D Mohammad Waseem told the chief minister that work on seven THQ/DHQ hospitals have been completed in 2018-19 with an allocation of Rs18.2 billion, out of which Rs9.6 billion were utilized. While in the current fiscal Rs1.6 billion have been allocated out of which Rs700 million have been released by the finance department. The details of these development projects are as follows.

DHQ hospital Mithi was upgraded with a budget of Rs1.6 billion, three THQ hospitals in TM Khan, Badin and Tando Allahyar were upgraded to the level of DHQ against a cost of Rs1.7 billion, Khairpur, Badin and Shikarpurfor DHQs were expanded incurring a cost ofRs3440.5 million, Thatta, Dadu, Naushehroferoze, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar & Mirpur Mathelo DHQs were also upgraded for Rs4.8 billion. Upgradation of three THQs to DHQs in Matiari, Kambar Shahdadkot and Umerkot was done for Rs2.4 billion. Upgradation of THQ to DHQ at Kashmore cost Rs763.2 million finally the upgradation and reconstruction of 41 Emergency Cum Trauma Centers was also completed incurring a cost of Rs3.34 billion

The Secretary Health also told the chief minister that eight DHQs at TM Khan, Tando Allahyar, Kotri, Shikarpur, Sanghar, Mirpur Mathelo and Naushehroferoze would be made functional by December 30, 2018.

He further added that five DHQs, Mirpurkhas, Dadu, Matiari, Umerkot and Kamber would be made functional by June 30, 2019.

The chief minister was also told that out of 41 Trauma Centres Sujawal, Mirpur Bathoro, Golarchi, Matli, Digri, Kot Ghulam Mohammad, Tando jam, Sakrand, Bhit Shah, Hala, kandiaro, Moro, Mehrabpur, Ratodero, Shahdadkot, Garhi Khero, Lakhi Ghulam Shah, Ghotki, Daharki, Ubauro, Pano Aqil, Warrah, Qzi Ahmed, Tandobago, kashmore, Johi, KN Shah, Tando Adam, Sinjhoro, Rohri and others 11 would be made functional by September 2019.

The chief minister directed the Chairman Planning and development (P&D) Mohammad Waseem visit all these sides and file a detailed report in 15 days.

Secretary Education Qazi Shahid Parvez told the chief minister that 16 English medium schools (EMS) were being constructed against a cost of Rs4.7 billion. Out of 16 schools 15 are ready to start while the school at Hyderabad was yet to be completed.

He continued that in package Athree schools were constructed at Nawabshah, Sukkur and Larkana.

While in Paclage-B four schools at Thatta, Badin, Kotri and Sujawal are being.

In package C four schools at Ghotki, Khairpur, Naushehroferoze and Sanghar respectively are being built out of them two have already been visited by a monitoring committee while the remaining two at Sanghar and Naushehroferoze are yet to be inspected. The chief minister issued directives for the inspection of the buildings and sought a report within 15 days.

In Package D five schools, Hyderabad, T.M Khan, Mirpurkhas, Tando Allahyar and Hala are being built and they are yet to be visited for inspection.

Secretary School Education Qazi Shahid Parvez said that construction of 15 schools was in progress. These schools are being constructed at Thatta, bathoro, Golarchi, Hyderabad, Matiari, Kotri, Umerkot, Tando Allahyar, Mirpurkhas, Ubauro, Shahdadkot, Kahirpur, Dadu, Sanghar and Nawabshah. He said that out of these 15 schools six schools at Thatta, Badin, Sujawal, Jam Shoro, Mirpurkhas and Umerkotare ready while work on others was in progress.

The chief minister directed chairman P&D to visit the schools and file a report regarding their quality and pace of work.

“I cannot compromise on the quality of the work being done and in this regard I will visit health and educational facilities in different districts,” he said, imploring that everything should be up to the mark.
