LAHORE: Pakistan WAPDA won the 12th National Women’s Karate Championship which ended at Sports Gymnasium Hall in Sahiwal on Sunday. Teams from all the affiliated units of the Pakistan Karate Federation — WAPDA, Pakistan Army, Pakistan Railways, Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhaw and Islamabad participated in the championship.
With 175 points, WAPDA defended their title by winning seven gold and one silver medals. With 90 points, Army won two gold, three silver, two bronze medals to get second position. Punjab and Balochistan both shared third position with 55 points and winning two silver and three bronze medals. In the championship, Nargis, the Asian bronze medalist, bagged three gold medals in Team Kata, Team Kumite and above 68kgs events. Asad Ali Khan Baloch, City Mayor Sahiwal, was the chief guest and Rana Zamurd Sultan, Director Ajwa Developers and Builders, was the guest of honour at closing ceremony of the championship.
