CJP returns to Pakistan after week-long dam-raising campaign in UK

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Saqib Nisar arrived back in the country on Thursday morning after a week-long campaign in the United Kingdom (UK) to raise funds for the construction of Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand dams.

While speaking to media at the airport before leaving for Pakistan, the chief justice stated that the whole nation is the protector of the dam-fund raising campaign which he had started, adding that he will always remember the love shown by overseas Pakistanis.

On November 20, Justice Nisar reached UK. He attend the first event of the campaign at Lincoln’s Inn in London On November 21 and also attended another event organised by the ‘Centre for Policy Dimensions’ the next day.

Moreover, the top judge had attended a fund-raising dinner in Manchester, organised by Aneel Musarrat who Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) member and Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s close friend.

The CJP also raised an amount of Rs360 million during a live telethon with local TV channel for the construction of the dams.

During his visit, Justice Nisar met community members in a ceremony of the World Congress and Overseas Pakistanis.
