Pakistan has lodged a strong protest with Bangladesh’s authorities, both in Dhaka and Islamabad, over a burglary incident at its High Commission in Dhaka.
According to details, unidentified burglars broke into the Consular Section of the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka and stole computers.
The High Commission immediately brought the matter to the notice of Bangladesh’s police. The High commission also informed Bangladesh Foreign Office of the incident and requested strengthened security.
Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman Dr Muhammad Faisal told Daily Times that the burglary at the Pakistan’s High Commission, located in a highly secure diplomatic area, was a matter of grave concern for Pakistan.
According to sources, stealing of computers containing extremely important is a big loss. No other valuables were stolen.
In Islamabad, the Foreign Office ordered an internal inquiry into the incident and asked its High Commission to carry out an independent probe into the incident.
Pakistan also reminded Dhaka of its responsibility to provide full security to the Pakistan High Commission’s premises.
Dr Faisal said that Bangladesh had been requested to carry out a thorough investigation, share a detailed report with Pakistan and bring the culprits to justice.
