Artists paint walls with truck art in Sindh

Author: Sanjay Mathrani

Hyderabad: Artists Iqbal Sanam and Mashal Hussain are painting historical places of Sindh with truck art.

Trucks are not just exporting goods from one place to another places. In South Asia, trucks are covered and decorated in paintings, poetry, bells, chains and beads. Cultural anthropologists believe that truck art is folk art that explores dreams and fantasies.

Ustad Mujhaid Khan, a truck driver, said his truck is the only ray of hope in his life. The design and painting he choose for his truck depict his feelings. He feels a strong bond with his truck.

Iqbal Sanam and Mashal Hussain said they want to promote truck art, because Sindh has a rich culture.
