Education the best investment for a secure future: Danish envoy

Education is the best investment to secure a better future of the country, Danish Ambassador Rolf Holmboe said on Monday.

Addressing the MMUN 2018 ceremony at The Millennium University College, the ambassador emphasised on understanding of the role of the United Nations in addressing the pressing global issues. He emphasised on stronger cross-cultural relations and expressed his interest in early realisation of developmental projects being carried out by Danish Embassy in several provinces of Pakistan.

“I also look forward to stronger ties between my country and Pakistan as well as its education system,” he added.

Portuguese Ambassador Joao Sabido Costa, Somalian Embassy Deputy Head of Mission Ali Sheikh Abdullahi, former ambassador Ghalib Iqbal, Inter Services Intelligence former director general Asad Durrani and China Radio International Director Chen Xiang also attended the ceremony.

The ambassadors introduced themselves to the audience and apprised them about the role of the UN and its goals in achieving global peace and prosperity. They spoke on the political and economical issues of their respective countries and that how they have worked over the years to overcome obstacles and ensure development and growth for the betterment of their society and citizens.

To a question by a student that whether the world peace was actually attainable, Ali Sheikh Abdullahi responded that if the platform of the UN is utilised to its optimum, the world peace is really attainable.

The moot concluded on a pleasant note with ambassadors commending the delegates for their intellectual questions and concerns not only about national issues but also the global scenarios.

More than 1,000 students from across Pakistan participated in the mega event.
