‘630 community midwives getting trained at 26 institutions across Sindh’

As many as 630 Community Midwives (CMWs) are getting training in 26 institutions across the province and they would contribute substantially in the provision of better healthcare service to people of Sindh after their training.

This was said in a meeting of Sindh chapter of National Maternal Neonatal and Child Health (MNCH). The meeting was chaired by Provincial Minister for Health Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho in her office on Monday.

MNCH monitoring and evaluation officer Ashiq Hussain Shah and MNCH program director Dr Syed Khalid Bukhari also attended the meeting. Minister Azra Pechuho asked them to move summary to Sindh chief minister to clear liabilities of MNCH and use money in transparent way.

Dr Pechuho said that training of CMWs was crucial because midwives played a key role in spreading awareness and providing health care to communities. “Sindh Government has focused on health care facilities and has taken many initiatives to improve them,” said the minister. Furthermore, officials of MNCH also discussed their issues with the health minister. She assured them that their issues would be addressed.
