Coming-of-age feature film draws mixed reviews

Author: Khurram Zia Khan

Recently released Pakistani film ‘Thorra Ji Le’ is the first movie of Rafay Rashdi as writer and director. His directorial debut is satisfactory.

The movie depicts the fruits of life-long friendships.

The film has been shot in Karachi and Larkana. It would’ve been more enticing for viewers if some parts of Larkana were shown instead of confining the movie inside the walls of a palace.

Ramsha Khan essays the role of a workaholic person.

Ahsan Mohsin Ikram is an actor par excellence with wonderful acting skills. He plays the role of a possessive husband.

The film is about the positivity of friendship giving out a message to move forward in life.

Bilal Abbas is shown as a drug addict and a weak person.

Rafay Rashdi needs to grow as a write and a director.

Pakistan’s cinema is passing through a crucial phase. Due to the political situation, the exhibition of Indian content is banned and so the survival of cinemas is totally dependent on local content. In this scenario, we need high quality content to attract viewers towards cinema, but movies like ‘Thorra Ji Le’ will push viewers away from cinema houses.

‘Thorra Ji Le’ is produced by Mahtab Akbar Rashdi. The film has introducing a fresh star cast namely Rizwan Ali Jaffri, Bilal Abbas, Ramsha Khan, Fatima Shah Jillani, Ahsan Moshin Ikram, Kasim Khan and Salman Faisal.
