Sukkur police establish women’s rescue centre

SUKKUR: Sukkur Police in order to redress police and administrative related issues of destitute women of district has established 6 rescue centres, working round the clock with women staff. These centres will provide first aid, FIR lodging, medical examination, prosecution and forensics services to the affected women.

Farhan Sarwar, spokesman Sukkur Police said centres have been empowered to lodge and probe cases of crimes against women. The centres would work against violence against women, honour killing, burning, abduction, acid throwing and forced marriage.

In case of any violence women must report SDPO Sukkur City Centre on 0719310568, New Sukkur taluka rescue centre on 0715806062, Rohri Taluka centre in SDPO office on 0715651882, Salehpat on 0715660410, Pano Akil SDPO office on 0715690545 and rescue 15 on 0719310321.

Meanwhile funeral prayers of traffic police constable Khan Chachar who embraced martyrdom in area of Gulshin-e-Iqbal Karachi were held at Pano Akil. Later police guard of honor was presented.

The employees of colleges Sukkur region staged a token sit-in in front of Press Club Sukkur against Director Colleges.

Over 100 protesters, led by Ali Hyder Shah and others told journalist that in 2011 more than 512 non-teaching staff from grade 1 to 12 has been recruited after walk in interview, written test and fulfilling other legal formalities.

They alleged their wages have been stopped. “We had filed a petition in Sindh High Court Sukkur Bench and Court issued verdict in favour of us ordering Director Colleges to pay salaries and other privileges”, they claimed. But Director Colleges remained reluctant to pay us despite of court orders, they lamented.

They appealed Bilwal Bhutto Zardari and Chief Minister Sindh to remove Director of Colleges and issue for release of salaries.
