National Road Safety Seminar was organized by Pakistan Highway and Motorway Police at Flettis Hotel Lahore Today. The topic of the seminar was Emergency Response in Crisis Like situations.
IG NHMP, AD Khawaja, EX IG Zulfiqar Cheema, DG Rescue Dr. Rizwan Naseer and others were present at the occasion. A large number of participants including police officers, members of civil society, educationist, lawyers, media, students, and citizens at large were present at the occasion.
Psychologist Dr. Naila Shafiq and Speaker Amna Mufti gave presentations on the topic of mob management, behavior science and need of citizen’s awareness and training on road safety.
Mr. Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema while addressing the event said that the current trend of religious fanaticism in Pakistan is very dangerous and totally against the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). He said instead of all this we should have trained our youth to focus on science and technology. He said to progress we have to get rid of illiterate religious puppets. We need to bring forward educated and balanced religious scholars to lead us. Islam tells us to keep the roads open as the Prophet has repeatedly said that those who pick thorns from the ways are better than those who put them.
In a very short span of time, Pakistan has made a few such institutions whose service delivery and performance is of the international level. Rescue 1122, NADRA and Motorway Police are such examples. And among them NH&MP has been declared as the only corruption free organization of Pakistan. This honor didn’t come because of beautiful uniforms and cars but by following the principles of honesty, sevice and helping the passengers in need.
CCPO Lahore and Commissioner Lahore were also present on the occasion.
The gathering approved a three point agenda for keeping Pakistan mobile in the time of emergency.
Citizens through a signing campaign pledged to help NH&MP in maintaining discipline and keeping roads safe. Dutiful officers were given shields and awards in the end.
