Firing on residence of religious scholar’s grandson

A spat on a phone call turned violent when some miscreants resorted to firing on house of a man, said to be the grandson of religious scholar Allama Turabul Haq (late), on Sunday morning.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police district East, Ghulam Asfar, armed miscreants sprayed the wall of the house with bullets after a spat on telephone with the grandson of late religious scholar. He said the five accused had been arrested in this regard and further investigation was underway.

Police also recovered weapons from the possession of the arrested persons.

Religious scholar, former MNA and president of the Jamaat Ahle Sunnat Allama Shah Turabul Haq Qadri died in October 2016 at the age of 72 after a prolonged illness.

Being a social worker, Qadri was associated with many charitable organisations in the capacity of member and trustee. He was also the author of more than one dozen books on religious topics.
