So-called professionals

Sir: It need not be stressed that unemployment is one of the burning issues of the country and you can’t realize it more than being in Karachi. Owing to that, many youngsters, including graduates, surrender themselves to whatever mediocre salary is offered to them against the merit of their academic credentials.

Rubbing salt on their wounds, before they are actually given an underpaid job after appearing in dozens of interviews, they have to deal with cold and unprofessional attitude from the same companies who boast non-stop about their professional conduct in job proposals.

The companies act very persuasive initially to make sure maximum candidates are interviewed for announced vacancy. Once interviews are done, many candidates walk away with the impression that they have absolutely nailed the interview and thus begins their wait for joining call or email. They waste days, their eyes glued to phone, not knowing somebody has already been recruited for the post.

Point being, these self-proclaimed professional private limited don’t realize that informing candidates who could not be selected for the proposed job is as important as notifying those who made it successfully.

Rejection does not sound bitter compared to be someone not worthy of any response at all. It is when unemployment is compounded by such feeling of uselessness that creates the unbridled frustration in youth leading them towards the misguided road of crime.
