Sindh assures Chinese investors of full cooperation

All possible facilities and incentives would be given to Chinese investors in Sindh.

Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Ali Shallwani said this on Wednesday while talking to a 20-member Chinese delegation representing Nanchuan district of China.

During the meeting, the commissioner and the delegation discussed the prospects for investment in projects pertaining to desalination, electricity generation from municipal waste as well as mass transit.

The Karachi Commissioner said Pakistan and China have a longstanding and strong relationship. The China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project would turn ties between the two states into a long term strategic economic partnership.

The Commissioner said that there were vast opportunities for investment in Karachi, adding that it had a conducive atmosphere for promotion of investment. The delegation expressed keen interest in investment in the industrial sector in Karachi and Hyderabad and showed willingness in setting up industries and businesses and to explore investment opportunities in both cities. The Chinese team also showed interest in finding opportunities in the fields of urban management and municipal functions to potential investors.

The Commissioner hoped that such initiatives on the part of Chinese investors would strengthen business and trade relationship between cities of Karachi and Hyderabad with Nanchuan district, China.

The delegation is visiting Karachi and Hyderabad to discuss with the authorities the prospects for specific cooperation projects (municipal projects, garbage disposal and urban management, urban water supply and drinking water) so that both sides could establish a long-term exchange platform for consultation.

The delegates said that they were looking into various sectors in the vibrant city of Karachi. Former President of Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Muhammad Shahid and office bearers besides members of chamber were present at the meeting.
