Sir: Considered among the leading national heroes of Pakistan, Dr Allama Iqbal was not only a distinguished poet, but an exceptional scholar and a brilliant philosopher. His poetry offer great insights into culture, religion, and nationalism. If studied in-depth there is a great deal young men and women can learn from Iqbal’s visionary thoughts that are embedded within his writings.
Iqbal’s work laid the foundation of an independent nation for Muslims and thus he is widely acknowledged as Pakistan’s ideological father. There are important lessons to be learned and passed on from Iqbal’s poetry which highlight values of Unity, Hope, Perseverance and Determination. An individual of this stature should be honored across the country with great zeal and not only should schools commemorate the day but corporations should also play their part in advancing his legacy.
In this light I would like to acknowledge the efforts of Indus Motor Company who took the lead to mark Iqbal Day with a great initiative. Employees from IMC together with students from the Toyota Goth Education Program, celebrated the day at Hill Park where they paid respect to Dr Allama Iqbal and pledged to work towards a better Pakistan by adopting socially-responsible practices. The children were reminded about their crucial role in the development of the nation and how their behavior can positively impact the country.
