Since after this order, the former president challenged this decision in the Islamabad High Court and stated in his petition that the formation of a commission to record the statement was alien to Pakistan’s criminal procedure and unprecedented.

The treason case was filed against Musharraf by the PML-N government over the president’s imposition of extra-constitutional emergency back in 2007.

The former president was indicted for the charges in 2014 where he appeared in front of the court and denied all the charges against him.

After his removal from the ECL, Musharraf left for Dubai for his medical treatment and haven’t returned so far. Since he has not showed up in front of the court after many warnings which led to the cancellation of his passport and identity card as well.
