Access to information: NHA launches mobile application

State Minister for Communications Murad Saeed Sunday said in order to ensure right of access to information, the National Highways Authority has launched at mobile app enabling the road users to obtain information regarding details of NHA projects, their status, CPEC routes, road safety guidelines, toll plazas and information relating to motorways police.

Addressing the launching ceremony of the mobile app held at the NHA headquarters, Murad Saeed said after coming into power, the targets set for the Ministry of Communications and its attached departments have almost been achieved. He said transparency demands placing all information before the people and NHA’s mobile app will pave the way to bringing about transparency in road building schemes.

The application allows users to get information about ongoing projects with project name, source of funds, current progress, contact details and the project location. He said endeavors were being made to increases revenue of NHA through utilization of its right of way. This will help reduce load on national exchequer, enabling NHA to serve as a great contributor to national economy, he added.

The minister said NHA is encouraging the undertaking of road construction projects on BOT basis. He said NHA’s land amounting to Rs 1.28 billion has been recovered from the encroachers. He said a saving of Rs 2.7 million has been recorded on account of expenditures on fuel. He said the ministry is successfully advancing its clean and green Pakistan campaign with the cooperation of departments of climate change, forest and agriculture. He said work on E-tendering and E-bidding is also in progress. “Each of us should have to work with dedication and honesty at his respective position to put country on the track to development in real sense,” he added.

NHA Chairman Jawwad Rafique Malik, senior officers from Ministry of Communications, National Highway Authority, National Highways and Motorway Police also attended.
