Rescue 1122 holds road safety workshop for children

The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) and the Citizens Mobility and Development Foundation (CMDF) on Saturday jointly organised a one-day road safety workshop at the Emergency Services Academy Thokar Niaz Baig.

The main theme of the workshop was to educate children to become responsible citizens and train them about road safety measures, which can help prevent road accidents.

Addressing the ceremony, Punjab Rescue Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer congratulated the School Safety Programme head Roqiya Bano Javed and her team for organizing the first workshop for rescue staff’s children. Dr Rizwan Naseer also took a pledge from young students to motivate their parents to obey traffic rules to prevent an ever-increasing number of accidents. He congratulated all young students for becoming rescue scouts.

On this occasion, all students were enrolled as rescue scouts, who will be provided further training on life-saving skills of first aid and fire safety. The content of the workshop included road safety measures, health hygiene, basic principle of traffic laws, importance of water, conservation of water and energy, cleanliness and environmental pollution.

At least 90 children of rescuers from the Punjab Emergency Service Headquarters attended this workshop.

Earlier, all young students visited the Emergency Services Academy where they observed the ongoing training activities of deep well rescue, water rescue, firefighting, urban search and rescue, rescue from confined spaces and rescue from the height.
