KARACHI: Pak Sarzameen Party Chairman, Mustafa Kamal, on Sunday admitted that he was a man of the highest establishment – a man of God.
Addressing a huge public gathering at Tibet Center, the PSP chairman gave a 30-day ultimatum to the government to resolve problems of the city.
“If our demands are not accepted within the deadline, the PSP will announce its future course of action in this regard,” Kamal said.
The former Karachi nazim urged the federal government not to associate the youth of Karachi with the Indian spy agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW). “Youth of Karachi is as patriotic as anyone in the country”, he remarked. “PSP is a hope for jailed party workers as they are looking for some legal remedies offered by the government for their release. We have pumped hope to the youths, mothers and families of all those languishing in prisons,” he added.
“We will not let anyone betray Karachi as all such elements were destroyed today,” he said, adding, “Karachiites today have destroyed the biggest idol of atrocity.”
“There are two narratives on the ground, first Karachiites were linked to MQM and Altaf Hussain. Today, those preaching this narrative have been proven wrong. Secondly, there is another wrong narrative that Urdu speaking people do not want to live with other communities. Today, our public gathering has proven such an impression to be wrong,” Kamal said.
“From now onwards, nobody should call residents of the city traitors or terrorists. They (Karachiites) have proved their beliefs loud and clear; that they (Karachiites) are not part of any anti-Pakistan conspiracy,” he said.
“PSP has successfully built an environment in which all communities – including Urdu speaking people – mingle with Pakhtoon, Sindhi, Punjabi, and Baloch,” added Kamal.
“We admit that we were mistaken for the last 30 years when we thought that one person (Altaf Hussain) was the godfather of our nation, but now we have corrected ourselves completely.”
Mustafa pressed the K-Electric management, before their management hand over to Shanghai Electric, to refund Rs 62 billion taken from the poor people of Karachi in overbilling.
Meanwhile, PSP senior leader, Raza Haroon, read out the party’s seven demands.
“The census should not be conducted on a political basis but on a constitutional basis and as per international norms.
Eradication of corruption should be ensured for the development of the country.
Constitutional rights should be given to the people of the country so that no one is victimised.
Clean drinking water, sewerage, transport, and proper health and education facilities should be provided for everyone in Karachi. Education and health is a basic right and jobs should be given on the basis of merit.
Development of Karachi should be carried out without political agenda and with no discrimination.”
Later, Kamal urged the PSP workers, especially the youth, to continue their education and follow their parents will. He also asked them to remember him in their prayers. “Even if I get killed in the line of this cause, do not take revenge and always remain on the right path,” he said, adding, “I do not want anyone to take any sort of revenge. I will present my case in the court of God.”
He asserted, “Karachiites have given me the mandate by passing seven resolutions to the government as a ‘Karachi resolution’ during the public gathering with full majority. Now, no force from London or any other place can stop me from fulfilling these demands”.
He also urged Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Bajwa, to announce four cadet colleges in Karachi.
