ISLAMABAD: The number of pending cases in the Islamabad High Court has exceeded 14000 despite the disposal of 7513 cases last year. Due to the increasing number of cases not only the number of litigants and visitors has got bigger but the problems of the people havealso swelled. Another problem is the lack of space inthe record room of the court. The official keeps the old record on thefloor, which causes great trouble when tracing some files. The loss of files has become a routine. Due to lack of room in the court, people have to wait outside the court in the hard weather. The Divisional Bench disposed of some 1338 caseslast year. Justice Amir Farooq had remained on top in respect of disposal of cases with 1338 cases, while Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb has disposed of the lowest number with only 446 cases during the year 2106. The Chief Justice Islamabad High Court, Justice Muhammad Anwar Kansi, had disposed of 610 cases, the senior most judge of IHC Justice Noor-ul-Haq Qureshi had disposed off 1031 cases, Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui had heard 632 cases, Justice Athar Minulllah had listened to some 1093 cases and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani had disposed of 1045 cases. Although the court had disposed of thousands of cases but 8609 new cases were registered from 1st January to 31st December 2016.
