Prime Minister Imran Khan would pay a two-day official visit to Malaysia in the third week of the current month. The aim of the visit is to seek cooperation for his reforms agenda based on the Malaysian model, to help the government fight corruption and bring more Malaysian investment to Pakistan.
Foreign Office spokesman Dr. Faisal confirmed the visit on Thursday, and said that the dates of the visit were still being worked out by both sides, and would be announced shortly.
Prime Minister Imran Khan was invited by Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Bin Mohamad to visit Malaysia when the two leaders spoke on phone last month, after Khan was elected into the office.
A credible diplomatic source told Daily Times that during the visit, Prime Minister Imran Khan would hold official talks with Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad on a broad range of issues including enhancing bilateral cooperation in various fields.
Prime Minister Imran Khan would specially take Malaysian companies having experience in housing sector into confidence over his plan to construct five million low-cost housing units in Pakistan. Prime Minister Imran Khan would also interact with Malaysian top businessmen and would take them into confidence over investment opportunities. During his two day stay, Khan would also speak to Pakistani community in Kuala Lumpur.
A number of agreements and MOUs are expected to be signed during the visit.
